Vintage Allis Chalmers Tractors

Above are some photographs of my Grandfather (Gordon Sands) and his brother Neil on their Allis Chalmers model A in the mid 1930's at the family farm, Tyrell Downs. This tractor was the first rubber tyred tractor in the Sea Lake(Victoria) area and was partly financed by trading in their team of 10 Clydesdale horses. The tractor remained in Neil's posession until the day he died but is now in the hands of an unknown collector whom we would love to get in contact with. Gordon went on to buying several more Allis Chalmers tractors over the years both in active duty and during his retirement. It was in 1991 after a double heart bypass that Gordon became involved in Vintage Tractor restoration. He restored a Model U with his wife Joy (which they painted themselves), a WC and a D272 until the bug was passed onto me. This lead to the purchase and subsequent restoration of a WF and C Model Allis Chalmers. Along with an unrestored Allis Chalmers this collection is displayed in Gordon's honour at the Lockington Living Heritage Complex in Lockington Vicotria. Since Gordon's passing I have maintained the collection and display and run them during the Vintage Tractor Rally held on the ANZAC weekend at Lockington. Below is a shot of the tractors displayed at the family farm "Gardenvale" in Bamawm.

Fiona

Here is our lovely mid 60's Clinker Boat the day we purchased it (Easter 2008) with it's one and only previous owners. The boat had been lovingly looked after, but it was time for somebody else to look after "Fiona" and we were only too happy to continue this on. We have taken the boat out on a few limited cruises, with some minor mechanical issues to be ironed out. The hull itself showed to be still very solid and proved that it's initial builder was very thorough during construction all those years ago. It is believed the gentleman who built the boat only built four boats, two of which were 14 feet hulls, the other two being 16 feet. Ours is a 16' and the only built with "fins". It is still powered by the original Dodge Kew sidevalve 6 and retains all other original features including the trailer and Buick wheels. We have managed to gather a small amount of old ski gear to suit but are always on the prowl for more vintage ski equipment.

Projects

Here is the latest long term project to arrive, it's a very solid 1934 CU Chrysler Airflow. Largely complete this vehicle is certainly very rare both here and overseas and is a more than welcome addition. Stay tuned for more progress on the rebuild of this one.
